I needed to update my hot weather fragrance arsenal, and, it was my birthday, so why not. My curiosity was piqued by the wonderful reviews for Acqua di Gio. Being a, fragrance-a-holic, I wondered how I had missed a fragrance with such a devoted fan base. I hit, place-this-order, with anxious anticipation. After all, it's moderately pricey, to purchase without testing.
In retrospect, I probably had previously avoided this fragrance, because of its class. I had never been into the oceanic/ozonic wave---not even L'eau D'Issey, which smelled like a spoiled cucumber on me, while so many adored it.
I began a brief birthday vacation, with Texas heat, already in the 90's. Luckily, my order arrived during my vacation. I'm not exaggerating when I say, that a couple of spritzes, while meditating on my deck, left me feeling I was having a Mediterranean escape. I could almost hear the ocean and I was certain I could recognize ALL of the fragrance notes: Sweet Pea, Aquatic notes, Jasmine, Freesia, White Hyacinth, Muscat grape (well, not grapes, except in the wine glass :-), Musk and Woods. It was literally, transforming!
Yes, I had definitely been missing something. Aqua di Gio is more of a floral-oceanic structure; simple, yet very complex and not too watery, or green. It's oh, so divine, and, oh so feminine, without being too sweet, or girly-girl. It's a clean, light scent; perfect for the office, or for your allergic friends. But, it would also be classic, and seductive enough, for evening wear.
The main drawback, is the cost factor, in relation to the staying power. However, I have noticed something special about this fragrance. It tends to reactivate, at times, with body temperature changes. The other night when I went to bed, I could no longer detect the scent, AT ALL. However, in the middle of the night, I turned, fluffed the blanket and there it was---just as pleasant, as ever. So, it sounds like it might not let you down when you need it; a very intriguing advantage.
If you love to display your fragrances, you will find this bottle to be rather utilitarian, and, somewhat masculine. In fact, it looks like a man's aftershave bottle. But, who really cares. It's what's inside that counts.

I was impressed with the price because I was getting twice the perfume for a price that everyone else was charging for the 1.7 oz bottle. It came on time and in new condition. I love the scent and I will order from this vendor again.

A great base fresh floral scent. When you first put it on, it's a bit strong, but the dry down is beautiful.
It's feminine & classy yet still very down to earth -- I receive compliments on it from both men and women. The lasting power is pretty good too.
